As you know the corner and center performances of a lens are often totally different stories. Yesterday I tried to give you some impressions of 4 lenses on the Sony Nex:
- Nikon AF-D 35/2
- Zeiss Distagon T* ZF 35/2
- Sigma 50/2.8 Macro
- Nikon AF 85/1.8
Today I’d like to show you, how these lenses behave in the corners.
First up the Nikon 35/2 and the Zeiss 35/2. Here you can see, why the Zeiss more than doubles the price of the Nikon…
To give you a profound impression of the differences I added shots at all full aperture settings. Click to enlarge!
As you can see from f11 on the Nikon gets a very blueish cast – the other differences aside:
And how does the Sony E 18-55/3.5-5.6 OSS kit lens compare? The Sony gives an overall warmer impression, is basically less sharp with less detail. And the Nikon becoming blue again at f11. Click to enlarge:
How does the Sigma 50/2.8 Macro compare to the Sony kit lens? In short: It’s better at every aperture setting, except that it gets blueish too stopped down (it might be the adapter too). See for yourself:
And finally here’s the corner performance of the Nikon AF 85/1.8. The problems wide open get even more obvious:
Draw your own conclusions!
More lens reviews on the Sony Nex and also on M4/3 are coming soon. Stay tuned!
